PLANTING TREES, IS SAVING MORE LIVES

PLANTING TREES, IS SAVING MORE LIVES
Good morning everyone and welcome to “Planting tree is saving lives”. I want to thank all of you for coming to this occasion. It is my pleasure to extend a cheerful welcome to you all.  You are doing a speech for your CEO not yourself.n how to start your speech? Can read the presidents or the  First Lady’s speeches.
They say its best to leave your audience before your audience leaves you. In order to keep it brief, I will be talking about the social, economic and environmental benefits of conserving tree.
Let’s get started on the environmental benefits of planting trees. Did you know that trees can combat climate change? Excess carbon dioxide caused by many factors is a building up in our atmosphere and contributing to climate change. Trees absorb carbon dioxide, removing and storing the carbon while releasing the oxygen back into the air. In one year, an acre of mature trees absorbs the amount of carbon dioxide produced when you drive your car 26,000 miles. Take a minute and think about it, what if we continue cutting down trees and not replanting more. Would we still be alive now? Food for thought.

On the same note, still on environmental benefits. Did you know that trees save water? I know you are probably wondering how it is possible. Through the shade that the trees provide, they help to slowdown the evaporation rate. Most newly planted trees need only fifteen gallons of water a week. As trees transpire, they increase atmospheric moisture.
Next we have the social benefits. Another amazing fun fact is that, trees help people to calm down. Trees are shown to have a calming effect on people; people suffering from high stress tend to feel calmer in the presence of trees, thus improving overall health and well-being. So if you ever have a rough day either at school or workplace you can just go lay down under a tree, how else you think Isaac Newton discovered the force of gravity.

Trees can also be used as a uniting factor. In today’s world we are growing increasingly insulated and isolated from our neighbors. A community tree planting is a great way for people to interact with one another, work side by side toward a common goal. Planting trees is also a great way to instill in members of the community a sense of civic pride and a stronger connection to place.

Lastly we have the economic factor. Did you also know that, a well-landscaped, tree-lined yard can raise the property value of a home by 5 to 15%, increasing neighborhood desirability and speeding up sales? Also studies have shown that well-treed businesses project a warm, welcoming and inviting atmosphere for shoppers who tend to linger and spend more time shopping, resulting in some cases in a business increase of up to 11%.

As I conclude, I always try to avoid giving advice during my remarks. A young man once said,” Socrates was a wise Greek philosopher who walked around giving advice to people. They poisoned him.” Same thing almost happened to the late Honorable WangariWamathai . She really fought against deforestation and not planting more trees. Despite all the challenges she never gave up her love for trees, the same thing should reflect upon us . If we ever want to save humanity from global warming and climate change, we must continue with the good work the Late HonorableWangariWamathaistarted. Cut one tree plant two more.
