PLANTING TREES, IS SAVING MORE LIVES

Joseph Mungai (12-0737)
PLANTING TREES, IS SAVING MORE LIVES
Good morning everyone and welcome to “Planting tree is saving lives”. I want to thank all of you for coming to this occasion. It is my pleasure to extend a cheerful welcome to you all.  You are doing a speech for your CEO not yourself.n how to start your speech? Can read the presidents or the  First Lady’s speeches.
They say its best to leave your audience before your audience leaves you. In order to keep it brief, I will be talking about the social, economic and environmental benefits of conserving tree.
Let’s get started on the environmental benefits of planting trees. Did you know that trees can combat climate change? Excess carbon dioxide caused by many factors is a building up in our atmosphere and contributing to climate change. Trees absorb carbon dioxide, removing and storing the carbon while releasing the oxygen back into the air. In one year, an acre of mature trees absorbs the amount of carbon dioxide produced when you drive your car 26,000 miles. Take a minute and think about it, what if we continue cutting down trees and not replanting more. Would we still be alive now? Food for thought.

On the same note, still on environmental benefits. Did you know that trees save water? I know you are probably wondering how it is possible. Through the shade that the trees provide, they help to slowdown the evaporation rate. Most newly planted trees need only fifteen gallons of water a week. As trees transpire, they increase atmospheric moisture.
Next we have the social benefits. Another amazing fun fact is that, trees help people to calm down. Trees are shown to have a calming effect on people; people suffering from high stress tend to feel calmer in the presence of trees, thus improving overall health and well-being. So if you ever have a rough day either at school or workplace you can just go lay down under a tree, how else you think Isaac Newton discovered the force of gravity.

Trees can also be used as a uniting factor. In today’s world we are growing increasingly insulated and isolated from our neighbors. A community tree planting is a great way for people to interact with one another, work side by side toward a common goal. Planting trees is also a great way to instill in members of the community a sense of civic pride and a stronger connection to place.

Lastly we have the economic factor. Did you also know that, a well-landscaped, tree-lined yard can raise the property value of a home by 5 to 15%, increasing neighborhood desirability and speeding up sales? Also studies have shown that well-treed businesses project a warm, welcoming and inviting atmosphere for shoppers who tend to linger and spend more time shopping, resulting in some cases in a business increase of up to 11%.

As I conclude, I always try to avoid giving advice during my remarks. A young man once said,” Socrates was a wise Greek philosopher who walked around giving advice to people. They poisoned him.” Same thing almost happened to the late Honorable WangariWamathai . She really fought against deforestation and not planting more trees. Despite all the challenges she never gave up her love for trees, the same thing should reflect upon us . If we ever want to save humanity from global warming and climate change, we must continue with the good work the Late HonorableWangariWamathaistarted. Cut one tree plant two more.

Problems Facing Kenyatta National Hospital
Walking through the hallway I could feel already sick. The place looked pathetic and disorderly. The air was filled with a mixture of different odors; there was the smell of blood, medicine sweat and other different kinds of perfumes.
The places was chaotic, the nurses were up and down, some rushing patients and some rushing documents to their respective departments.  Along the corridors, there were a few benches with patients, some looked tired and some looked like they were in so much pain. Halima Kabibi had to say this about the hospital, as she was my first encounter in the hospital.
“The hospital lacks some kind of order. I have been seating here with my daughter for almost 5hours without been attended to. “
She sounded very angry and irritated; it was clear enough she was not satisfied with the services provided by the hospital. She was just among the few who were complaining, I interviewed several others and they were complaining about the same thing. Some had some past experience and they were telling me that the day might even end without them being attended to.
Moving on to the wards, I was shocked beyond words with what I had discovered and seen. I found not one but many other patients sharing a single bed.   This was something that was really devastating. It was not the kind of hospital I imagined I would walk into.
“We have been sharing the bed for almost a week now. We were told that we have to bear with the current situation as to there are many other patients, due to the recent attacks “.
Mr. Kamau told me these as he stared at me hopelessly. In deed he did not have the upper hand to this matter. It’s very bad to see how people are treated especially the sick. They should be treated with utmost care and humility. He also added that at times he was the one who was taking his friend to the washrooms during the night, due to lack of enough nurses. Some of the family members who were there with them said there was also some kind of biasness.
“While were admitting Mr. Kamau, we were at first asked if we were going to pay in cash or through our insurance company. After we said through insurance company, we were told people with no money have to wait for the rest who have, so we were not served until we had to become persistent. “
Kenyatta Hospital is known for popping up in the media not only for serious staff shortages, but shortages of other facilities including drugs, wheelchairs, beds and stretchers. Despite all that the hospital has been working had to acquire additional facilities within limited stretchers.
“The government is trying as much as they can despite all this problems you have seen around. Recently we have received new machines for the ICU department, new wheelchairs and beds. We are also receiving funds and support from local and international sponsors. On the issue of inadequate personnel, nurses and doctors are in place but they will officially start working next month.”
Doctor Cyrus Wachira assured me as I was making my final laps around the hospital .Only time will tell if things will change.

HATE SPEECH

Hate speech outline
1.      Single element lead – Negative effects of hate speech
2.      Summary of other actions
a)      the blame game
b)      The displaced
c)      Suggestions
3.      Support for the lead
a)      Quotes
b)      Facts
4.      Support for other actions in order
a)      The politicians should stop the blame game. They should take this matter seriously and find possible solutions. Pointing fingers won’t help.
b)      The government should look into the matter of the displaced people. The genuine cases should be refunded or even relocated to a new place.
c)      People should strive to stay in harmony and avoid been manipulated for selfish gains.  Getting paid to something evil against your neighbor should not be your drive, instead you should refuse and be loyal to your country.

Hate speech
Inflammatory public speech rises steadily before outbreaks of massive violence, suggesting that it is a precursor or even a prerequisite for violence, which makes sense: groups of killers do not form spontaneously. In most cases, a few influential speakers gradually incite a group to violence.
Kenyan politicians have become involved in public hate campaigns, even using the social networks as a platform to spread their propaganda. The atmosphere in the country is reminiscent of 2007 short before riots broke out. Angela a student from Daystar University said,
“It’s diminishing to see politicians do this and get scot free. This kind of act could lead to people turning against each other like in 2007.” She adds on to say, “this kind of people should be arrested and serve as an example to the rest.”
No one is above the law; everyone should pay for what they do. Hate speech is not something to joke around with. It can cause instability, disunity, disintegration and chaos. Back in 2007, peace was disrupted, people turned against each other, properties were destroyed and massive lives were lost. What’s more shocking we still have Kenyans who haven’t yet recovered from the tragedy. We have some refuges in Uganda who are still waiting for the government to compensate them.
“The government should strive to restore peace in the country and avoid the blame game. About the displaced persons, some cases are genuine. The government should be able to sort out that.”
That was Joe Mwangi’s opinion, a student from Kenyatta University. The recent attacks from Mpeketoni were blamed on the opposition party. Our leaders are spending all their energies into blaming each other instead of working together. A house divided by itself cannot stand; this is what the leaders don’t understand. There’s nothing good that will come out of the blame game. Although the Alshaabab’s claimed the attacks, it’s not yet clear. There’s this habit that has emerged with the interior, after every attack he says “the Alshabaab’s have claimed responsibility.”  These claims are done without even investigating what led to the matter and who did it .The Kenyan Human Rights activist John Githongo said that, “this kind of confusion will only cause tension to build up.”
As Kenyans we should remember that 1200 people were killed and hundreds of thousands were displaced. This was when supporters of former President Kibaki and his contender turned on each other.  That time clear lines were drawn along the borders of ethnicity. Should we let the same thing happen? As Individuals we should not let other people manipulate us for their own selfish gains. We are one   ; the country belongs to all of us and not just a few.

TOP TEN WORST MALE MUSICIANS

The list starts with From the bottom to the top , this was just my opinion so if you think otherwise let me know . Hit me up on the comment box . Maybe you can add up to the list and make top 20 , 30 or even 50 . This guys are killing hip-hop , we need to take back to the 80's

LIL WAYNE
At first he was good , but as time went by he became a douche . He sings about weed , pussy , money and bitches . I think in some way you can tell , he is not that elite , though his metaphors and wordplays are genius.

DRAKE
He signs like a girl , whats worse he is alwaays on AUTOTUNE . His voice can make your ears bleed. He better of siging in a colabo than when he goes solo . I used to like his music when i was in high-school but i no longer listen to his music .

FUTURE
His music is whack AF! He lacks the creativity part of raping . Just like Drake he is always on autotune , he is the worst version of Drake . I smashed my screen the first time i heard his music on TV . Thats how much i despise him

WIZ KHALIFA .
He went from black and yellow , to dark and shallow . Wiz is the shallowest guy i have ever seen on the rap industry . He is like a hippie , his songs are nothing compared to crap . He raps about weed and praises it . Apart from weed , what else can Khalifa do best ?  I think the guy needs some serious steroids , weed is doing him more harm than good .

B.O.B
He used to be my best rapper of all the time back in the days when he sang music tha made sense . Nowadays he has ganged up with lil Wayne , Two chains and all they rap about is crap . I think this makes me hate the modern style of rapping , people to take it back to the 80's when good music inspired you rather than trun you to a hippie .

SNOOPDOG
Snoop Dog went from been a gangster to beign a fag , what kinda shit is his on this days . It must be some serious shit . First him changing his name to Snoop lion and to make it worse , he does a collabo With Psy.  Hangover has some good beats but the content is shitty and senselsess . Snoop should seat back and watch his olt time music and come back to his senses . Or maybe he can just quit rapping , he i too old for the shit . Let the new skool take over .

KANYE WEST
Went from Kanye best to Kanye trash , he's music is full of racial slurs . He should style up and find something new to do . Or maybe he can just stay at home and take care of his daughter NorthWest ,lol . What tha fuck is that kinda name . I think  Kanye went full retard , anway . He can rap but he is not that good .

TWO CHAINS
Two chains music sounds like a broken record , he's always reapting what he raps like a 5 times and make his song longer . He songs are based on big bootays , drugs , women , money and his two chains . You can barely hear what he raps about .
